Inter face Skriniar fight

Inter Milan
Milan Skriniar has played down Real Madrid links and sworn loyalty to Inter Milan, suggesting he's very close to renewing his contract.

Inter Milan could face a fight to keep hold of defender Milan Skriniar as Premier League heavyweights Manchester City are interested.

The English champions are light on numbers in defence following Aymeric Laporte’s injury blow.

It remains to be seen when Laporte will be able to make a return to action and City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in a new centre-half in the January transfer window.

Man City were thought to be keen on Harry Maguire during the summer but were put off by Leicester’s price tag and the England international ended up at rivals Manchester United.

It has now been claimed that Guardiola has set his sights on Slovakia international Skriniar and is plotting a January swoop.

The Nerazzurri will be desperate to keep hold of the 24-year-old and are in a strong bargaining position as Skriniar is under contract until 2023, but they may struggle to resist a big bid from City in the winter window regardless.
