Juve fringe man Mandzukic linked with MLS switch

Mario Mandzukic is open to the idea of returning to Bayern Munich this summer but his preference is to remain at Juventus.

Mario Mandzukic has been linked with a move to the American MLS after slipping down the pecking order at Juventus this season.

The 33-year-old former Croatia international has scored 44 goals in 162 appearances for the Bianconeri since he joined from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth €21 million in summer 2015.

Mandzukic has helped the Old Lady of Turin win four Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia titles during his time at the club.

However, with Maurizio Sarri replacing Massimiliano Allegri in the summer, it seemed that he would be leaving for pastures new.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid were both said to be interested, but no deal materialised and Mandzukic has been forced to stay put at the Juventus Stadium.

He has not been part of Sarri’s plans and it seems he will now look to push for a switch in the near future despite the European transfer window being closed.

A number of teams in the United States are believed to be keen on signing Mandzukic, while there is also said to be interest from clubs in Qatar.
