Mirante back for Bologna

Serie A

Bologna goalkeeper Antonio Mirante has been given the all-clear to resume playing after heart problems and may face Atalanta on Sunday.

The 33-year-old joined I Rossoblu in the summer of 2015 and made 33 Serie A starts in his first season at the club.

However, the former Parma shot-stopper complained of feeling out of breath after the opening match of this season and tests showed some cardiac irregularities.

He has not played since and underwent further tests to determine the extent of the problem, but doctors are now happy that it was only a ‘passing phase’.

Mirante was given the green light to resume training several weeks ago and is now back in the squad for this weekend’s clash with La Dea, although it remains to be seen if he starts.
