Napoli facing James deal frustration
Napoli's hopes of luring James Rodriguez to Italy's Serie A could end in frustration after Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane suggested he is still in his plans.
The 28-year-old Colombia international attacking midfielder appeared to be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu this summer on a permanent basis having spent the past two seasons on loan with German champions Bayern Munich.
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be keen on taking him to Italy, but the Partenopei had been reluctant to meet Real Madrid’s reported €42million asking price.
James wasn’t involved in Real’s last two friendlies against Red Bull Salzburg and Roma, but Zidane has suggested that he could still have a future in the Spanish capital.

On James, who has scored 36 goals in 111 appearances for Los Blancos. Zidane said: “James is a player we’ve registered.
“He hasn’t been called up for either game, but that can change. Anything can happen until September 2, but that goes for all the other teams.
“Ultimately, I’ll always count on a Madrid player. You can ask me about this or that player until September 2, but my answer will always be the same.
“This is the squad I have and these are my players, that’s it.”
