Palermo turn to Malesani

Serie A strugglers Palermo have confirmed that Alberto Malesani will take over from sacked manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Former Genoa and Inter boss Gasperini was finally given his marching orders in the wake of the 2-1 defeat to Atalanta at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, which left the Rosanero rooted to the foot of the table, four points adrift of safety.

Things are obviously not going well for Palermo but they will 'entrust' Malesani to lead the club away from danger in the remaining 15 games.

"Palermo can announce that it has entrusted Alberto Malesani to lead the first team," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Malesani will take charge of his first training session this afternoon and will be presented to the Press tomorrow morning."
