Widmer laughs off transfer rumours

Silvan Widmer insists he is not interested in rumours about his future and, while ambitious, is happy to play at Udinese.

The 23-year-old has been with the Zebrette since 2013 and established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Italian top-flight.

Unsurprisingly, a number of top clubs have been linked, with Juventus, Inter and Roma said to have had him watched on several occasions.

The Switzerland international appears unfazed, however, and, while not ruling out a move at some stage of his carer, is content to bide his time at the Dacia Arena.

“In Italy, as we know, we talk a lot about football, about the transfer market,” he told Tio. “There’s a lot to read but not much truth. I won’t deal with it, I’ll leave it to my agent because it could definitely have an effect on me.

“I know there are different rumours about my future, but I’m fine in Udine, which is a perfect club for a youngster so I try not to pay attention to it.

“Clearly I’ve got a long career ahead of me and I always aim high, but we’ll see.”
