All quiet at Shrews - Turner

Manager Graham Turner is not expecting promotion-chasing Shrewsbury to be involved in any dealings on transfer deadline day.

Turner had been in the market for a defender but his attempts have been thwarted, although Shane Cansdell-Sherriff is predicted to make an earlier-than-expected return from his shoulder injury while Reuben Hazell and Connor Goldson are also making good progress with their comebacks.

"In my view, at the moment, I would say nothing's going to happen although we're still waiting on several phone calls," Turner told the club's official website.

"We've said before that we felt there was a need for another defender to come in, even if it's in the short-term, but it's not come to fruition.

"We've tried quite a number of clubs with players that we fancy and right at the moment nothing has materialised.

"There have been one or two enquiries for players to go out but there are several players I couldn't afford to let out with the squad we've got."
