Forrest signs new Celtic deal

James Forrest believes Celtic can reach new heights as he gets set to sign a contract extension.

Celtic forward James Forrest has committed his long-term future to the club by penning a four-year contract extension.

The 28-year-old has emerged as a key figure for the Bhoys since graduating from the youth team to make his senior debut in 2009-10.

He made 55 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring 17 times, and has already notched seven times this season.

Celtic said in a statement: “Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that James Forrest has signed a new four-year deal that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.”

Forrest has helped Celtic to win eight Premiership titles, five Scottish Cups and four League Cups and will remain on their books until at least the summer of 2023.

It ends long-running speculation over his future after reports suggested he could be heading south of the border or potentially to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg to embark on a new challenge.

The new deal will allow Forrest the opportunity to completely focus on his football once again as Celtic look to win a ninth successive league title.
