Consistency key for Celtic – Christie

Ryan Christie says he will be hoping to make amends for his recent red card during Celtic's Europa League clash with Lazio at Parkhead on Thursday.

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has stressed the importance of consistency as they look to continue their fine form.

Saturday’s 4-1 victory at Ross County made it 10 successive victories in all competitions for Celtic.

They sit top of the Premiership on goal difference and have earned progression to the round of 32 in the Europa League off the back of that run.

Christie has chipped in with four goals since their winning streak started, taking his tally to 15, and insists they aren’t looking to ease off any time soon.

The midfielder acknowledges that any let-up could allow Rangers to edge ahead in the title race as the busy festive period comes into play.

Christie said: “The gaffer touched on keeping our consistency high. We know how hard it is because the domestic games come thick and fast at this time of year.

“We’re just trying to keep our momentum going right now, we’ve had a good run of games, but as soon as you relax, that’s when you slip. We must keep on top of things.”

The Scotland international struck twice in the triumph over the Staggies and also provided an assist for Tom Rogic.

He is fast becoming the most important player available to Neil Lennon as they seek a ninth successive league title.

Celtic should have more than enough to make it 11 wins in a row on Wednesday when struggling Hamilton Academical make the trip to Parkhead.

However, their credentials will be put to the test on Sunday when they face Rangers in the Betfred Cup final.
