Contract talks don't worry Whitehead
Stoke, Latest news update:
Dean Whitehead says he isn't concerned by the lack of progress in contract negotiations with Stoke and is happy to bide his time.
The 31-year-old has spent the last four years with the Potters following his £5million switch from Sunderland in 2009 and has played a key role in keeping the club in the Premier League.
However, the former Oxford United midfielder has slowly become a bit-part player with Stoke and has started just 10 Premier League games this season.
Whitehead has just two months left to run on his current deal and the Potters have yet to make him a new contract offer.
While Whitehead is looking to sit down and discuss a new contract with the Stoke hierarchy, he has admitted he may decide to move on in the summer in the search of regular first-team football.
"I'm quite relaxed about the situation. I have spoken to the manager a few times and am happy to see what happens in the next few weeks," Whitehead told the Sentinel.
"I'm not getting any younger and I haven't played as many games as I'd have liked. Of course I want to stay. This is a great club and a great team."
