Midfielder's moment of madness

Stoke midfielder Diego Arismendi is facing a three-match ban after being sent off in the reserves' 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last night.

The Uruguayan, who has made only two senior appearances this term, received his marching orders for an alleged headbutt on Gunners starlet Fran Merida in the last minute of the first half.

The Uruguayan appeared to move his head toward Merida and the referee signalled he felt it was a headbutt before brandishing a red card at the frustrated Uruguayan for violent conduct.

New £3.25m goalkeeper Asmir Begovic made his first appearance for the club, but had little to do while Andrew Davies lined up in central defence with Amdy Faye in central midfield.
