Angeleri set to end Sunderland misery
Marcos Angeleri's agent has confirmed the injury-hit Sunderland man is close to sealing a move back to Argentina.
The 29-year-old, who joined the Black Cats in a £1.5million deal two years ago, has failed to make an impression at the Stadium of Light after an injury-ravaged spell at the club.
He has still yet to start a Premier League game after he aggravated a cruciate knee ligament injury in a pre-season friendly against Benfica shortly after joining and, despite making a recovery, he was then forced to undergo an operation.
He appears to have no future whatsoever at Sunderland under boss Martin O'Neill and he will be allowed to move on with a switch back to Argentina the likely outcome.
His agent, Miguel Pires, says he hopes to work out a deal with Independiente as soon as possible.
Pires said: "Next week I am going to have a meeting with the officials of Independiente for resolving the situation of Marcos Angeleri.
"He wants to return to Argentina, and even more to a team like Independiente."
