Injury blow for defender

Sunderland defender Lamine Kone has pulled out of the Ivory Coast squad because of a knee injury.

The defender has a knee problem which kept him out of the Black Cats side for their home draw with Burnley at the weekend and he has now withdrawn from Ivory Coast’s get together.
Wearside boss David Moyes is now keeping his fingers crossed that he will be fit to face Watford in the Premier League after the international break.
“On Thursday – at the end of training – we were doing some heading practice and he just twisted his knee,” the Sunderland chief told the club's website.
“We’ve had it scanned and there’s nothing there so it looks like days or a week rather than anything else, but obviously it was a big miss against Burnley because we knew what we were facing up front.”
“I hope to have him back in days – maybe a week – I saw him on Friday and he was limping with it, but we know there’s no damage or anything which needs any work.”
