Sunderland's Jan Kirchhoff is unavailable for Saturday's clash with Burnley after suffering a setback in his injury recovery.
Kirchhoff, who last played against Chelsea in December, looked set to return to competitive action after recovering from a knee problem.
However, the former Germany Under-21 international suffered a recurrence of the knee issue and is set to be out of action for a minimum of six weeks.
Manager David Moyes will also be without the midfield trio of Lee Cattermole, Paddy McNair and Duncan Watmore, leaving the Scottish tactician struggling for options.
Nigerian Victor Anichebe is also on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a knee injury that has kept him out since the 2-0 defeat to West Brom on January 21.
Jason Denayer does return after being ruled out against his parent club Manchester City but Steven Pienaar remains a doubt as he struggles to shake off a calf injury.
Provisional squad: Pickford, Mannone, Jones, Manquillo, Denayer, Oviedo, Love, O'Shea, Kone, Kirchhoff, Djilobodji, Lescott, Ndong, Gibson, Larsson, Borini, Januzaj, Khazri, Gooch, Honeyman, Defoe, Maja.
