New man announced at Sunderland

Sunderland have appointed former Manchester City director of football Simon Wilson to join David Moyes' backroom staff.

Wilson has been named the club's new 'chief football officer' and he will work alongside manager Moyes and chief executive Martin Bain from January next year.

Having previously worked with Moyes at Preston, Wilson will have a big input at the club in many different areas.

"My role will be to ensure that we have the best practices, systems and people in place in order to give the club the best platform to achieve its goals," said Wilson.
