Swans step up striker bid
Michael Laudrup says he will be working hard to sign 'another Michu' for Swansea after admitting more goals are needed in his side.
Swansea saw the season out in disappointing fashion as they were defeated 3-0 at home to Fulham and Laudrup says the game again highlighted their need to bring in another striker.
Michu has shouldered the bulk of the goalscoring responsibility this season and Laudrup has set himself the target of finding a similar player this summer, although he admits it will be a tough ask.
"Can we get another Michu? I hope so but it's not easy," he revealed. "There are some out there but other clubs want them as well and we are not financially the most powerful of the 20 clubs in the Premier League. Goals are money and you have to pay.
"You can't think you can find a top scorer for free. We almost did it last year but you don't win the lottery every time.
"We hope and we will work and I may get excited when we get the one we want - but I know it is one thing to do the research, to put the name on paper, to think you have a chance, but it is another to sign them."
Laudrup is again expected to look to Spain to sign another striker but he will more than likely have to pay more than the £2.2million it cost him to land Michu from Rayo Vallecano.
