Swans target ex-Blues hitman

Swansea City are believed to be weighing up a move to bring former Birmingham striker Christian Benitez back to the Premier League.

A number of top-flight clubs, including Tottenham, have been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old's progress, but now the South Wales outfit are ready to firm up their interest with a bid.

Benitez has found the back of the net on a regular basis in the last couple of seasons since joining Club America in Mexico and his all-round consistency has improved since his time at St Andrew's.

The Ecuador international showed only glimpses of his exciting talent during his stay with the Blues, but Swansea's style of play under Michael Laudrup may suit him better as well.

It is being reported that Benitez's agent has flown to the UK for talks with potential suitors, although there is also an interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain too.
