The controversial Kyrgios has made a 'bad-boy' reputation for himself and been labelled a hothead, known to fall apart on court if matches are not going his way.
Having seen the 22-year-old suffer defeat to Rafael Nadal in the China Open final on Sunday, Croft believes a better support team could see Kyrgios come on leaps and bounds in the future.
She told Sky Sports: "As we keep saying he is so complex. He can go in a spiral and get in the doldrums and then it takes quite a lot to lift him.
"He then needs other people around him and the right advice that he can respond to and lift his spirits a little bit."
