Kimiko Date-Krumm is hoping to continue her career after recovering from injury despite the fact she will turn 46 on September 28.

The Japanese veteran began her career way back in 1989 and enjoyed considerable success as a youngster, reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 1994.
She was also a semifinalist at Roland Garros the following year while the Tokyo resident made the last four at Wimbledon in 1996.
The Kyoto-born ace then opted to hang up her racket and played no competitive tennis between 1997 and 2007 before making a comeback in 2008.

She was back in the Grand Slams in 2009 but has never made it past the third round in any of the big four events over the past sevens seasons.
Date-Krumm underwent knee surgery in April and is not ready to resume her playing career just yet but is keen to take to the court once again in 2017.
"I have been told it will take a year to fully recover from the operation and it's just a case of how much more or less time it will be than that," she said.
"Everything has gone well up to this point and it has not put limitations on my daily life. As an athlete, you have to condition muscles and I want the injury to properly heal."
