Fed not keen on starring for Swiss

Roger Federer has revealed he's unlikely to ever represent Switzerland in the Davis Cup or at the Olympics again.

Federer is expected to again streamline his schedule in 2018 in order to be as competitive as possible in the Grand Slams after he opted to miss the whole clay-court season, including the French Open, this year so he would be fresher for Wimbledon.

The strategy paid off as he triumphed at SW19 to collect his 19th Grand Slam title and now the 36-year-old admits he will not push himself to play in the Davis Cup or 2020 Tokyo Olympics as he aims to prolong his glittering career for as long as possible.

He said: "I haven't officially retired from the Davis Cup. It's just because it's always highly unlikely that I'll play at this stage of my career. You know, I haven't set Tokyo Olympics as a goal either.

"It hurt not being in Rio (in 2016), but I was okay without it, too. I was flag bearer twice. I won gold. I won silver. I feel like I achieved a lot of great things at the Olympics. I'm not thinking that far ahead."
