Garcia pulls out of Tianjin Open

Caroline Garcia has been forced to pull out of the Tianjin Open after picking up an unspecified injury.

The world number nine defeated Romanian Simona Halep on Sunday to win the China Open, recording a 6-4 7-6 victory to extend her winning run to an impressive 11 matches.

The 23-year-old French women, who currently holds the eighth and final spot in the Race to Singapore standings, was expected to feature in the Tianjin Open but her withdrawal has now been confirmed after she picked up an injury.

"Unfortunately @CaroGarcia has had to withdraw from the #tianjinopen due to injury," a statement on the Tianjin Open official Twitter account read.

Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu will now take on Russian Maria Sharapova in the first round of the event, with their clash scheduled to take place early on Tuesday morning at the Tianjin International Tennis Center.
