Pliskova confirms Kotyza split

Former world number one Karolina Pliskova has parted ways with her coach David Kotyza.

Pliskova, who is currently ranked fourth in the world, only appointed her fellow Czech in December but the partnership has only lasted just under 10 months after they failed to agree on "the strategy of her further development".

The 25-year-old had won three WTA tournaments under Kotyza, those victories coming at the Brisbane International, Qatar Open and Eastbourne International, taking her tally to nine titles.

Under the tutelage of 50-year-old, who has also worked with dual Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and the Czech Republic Fed Cup team, Pliskova reached the semi-final of the French Open before making the quarter-finals of the US Open.

There is yet to be any confirmation on who will replace Kotyza and it is believed the Louny-born star will take her time to appoint a new coach, especially with the current season drawing to a close.
