Chelsea to make renewed bid
Latest news update:
Chelsea are ready to make one final bid to land Spurs ace Luka Modric with a bid of around £30m for the player.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has said all along that he does not want to loose the influential midfielder and chairman Daniel Levy has maintained that he will not sell.
That resolve is set to be tested to the limit though if the reports of an imminent £30m bid are to be believed, Spurs have already turned down an offer of £22m and £27m for the Croation with reports suggesting £35m could be the tipping point.
Redknapp has his own transfer targets but as yet has not been successful in off loading any of his fringe players to generate some extra money but he remains determined to keep Modric if he can.
New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan of Modric and owner Roman Abramovich is determined to back his new man in the transfer market, which could see him up their bid to close to the £35m tipping point.
