Defensive boost for Spurs

Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen are both set to return to Tottenham's defence for the visit of league leaders Chelsea on Wednesday.

Walker and Vertonghen are available after missing the win over Watford on New Year's Day through suspension while Mousa Dembele was rested at Vicarage Road and is also likely to start.

Erik Lamela is Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino's only absentee, with the winger still recovering from a hip problem.

It is the last game of the busy Christmas and New Year schedule for Spurs - and probably the most important for Pochettino's side.

The Argentine will go with his strongest side and then rest players for the FA Cup third-round clash with Aston Villa.
