Assou-Ekotto will link up with former boss Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road after his future at White Hart Lane has come under much speculation.
Both clubs are still to confirm the deal but the Cameroon international announced the news via his Twitter page.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has looked towards young full-back Danny Rose in the early stages of the campaign and it appears he will be the preferred option.
Assou-Ekotto tweeted: "Let's go to QPR ! I'll keep one eyes on u spurs have a good luck this season #COYS"
The 29-year-old made 195 appearances for the Premier League side between 2006-13, netting five goals during that time.
