The 23-year-old is back to his best under the leadership of Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park, and a host of clubs, including Tottenham, are said to be keeping an eye on his contract situation on Merseyside.
The England international is out of contract at the end of next season, but has yet to sign a new one, leading to suggestions he could be targeting a move away from his boyhood club in the future.
Everton are well aware that his value will drop if he does not sign a new deal and that could open the door for Tottenham to try and lure him away when the transfer window re-opens.
Barkley would prefer to stay with Everton, but just like Romelu Lukaku he wants to play in the Champions League and compete for silverware, and would consider a move away to achieve that goal.
There will be no shortage of interest should Barkley become available, with Manchester City also keen, but for now Tottenham are said to be heading the queue.
