Parry pleased with Baxter

Manager Les Parry felt Jose Baxter impressed on his Tranmere debut.

The young striker bagged a goal in his first appearance since arriving on loan from Everton but could not prevent Parry's side losing 2-1 at Preston.

"Jose is still getting used to the level as he's used to Premier League level but he showed his quality and scored a goal," said Parry.

"It was our best performance of the year but it was disappointing the way we gave away the second one. We were in possession of the ball and we've tried to mess around and lost it and within seconds they've scored.

"I think that's the best game Lucas Akins has had since he came to the club."
