Parry purrs over ‘perfect result’

Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere manager Les Parry described his side's opening-day 1-0 victory over League One new-boys Chesterfield at Prenton Park as "the perfect result".

Robbie Weir scored the only goal of a game of few chances with 16 minutes remaining when he found space in the area before finishing calmly.A delighted Parry told Tranmere Player: “It was nice keeping the clean sheet and winning the game was extra nice. It was the perfect result.”The performance was what I expected from the first game of the season.”It was always going to be scrappy in the first half, especially the beginning as both teams were on the ceiling with the hype before the game. After that we controlled the first half and did OK.”We’ve been encouraging our midfielders to get in the box and it was from such a run that Robbie scored. It was difficult to see from where we were so I wasn’t quite sure how it got past the keeper but I don’t care to be honest.”
