Llorente on Bilbao’s radar
According to reports, Athletic Bilbao are planning to try and resign Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente.
The striker is out of contract next summer and he will be able to speak to foreign clubs in January.
However, the Bilbao board is refusing to wait another six months to sign him and reports claim they want him to join in a permanent move in January.
Bilbao’s presidential elections take place on December 27 and a number of candidates have all claimed they will try to resign the fan favourite.
Llorente is behind Harry Kane in the pecking order at the north London outfit and he admitted earlier this week that he would like to return to Spain in the future.
‘I’ve been away from home for many years,” Llorente told reporters after Tottenham’s 2-1 Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven.
‘I’d love to go back to La Liga.’
The 33-year-old began his career with Athletic, playing over 250 games for the club before falling out with manager Marcelo Bielsa in 2012 and refusing to sign a new contract.
However, he could now be set for a sensational return where he will likely see out his career.
