De Jong committed to Ajax short term
In-demand midfielder Frenkie de Jong has made it clear he will not be leaving Ajax this month.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of much speculation over the past year, with La Liga giants Barcelona and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain both heavily linked to his signature.
It is widely expected De Jong will move on in the summer but an early exit from the Johan Cruyff ArenA has been ruled out.
He told Ajax TV: ‘I will not be leaving this winter anyway, and I will remain one hundred per cent sure until the end of the season.’
The playmaker also hopes the first-team squad remains intact for the second half of the Eredivisie season as Ajax sit second in the table, two points behind PSV Eindhoven.
He added: ‘I do not know what will happen to other players, but I personally would certainly like it if the group stays together. So far we have had a reasonably successful first half of the season.
‘The atmosphere in the group is good, we have a lot of quality, so I would be sorry if guys left.’
