Crystal Palace face a fight to sign Queens Park Rangers star Eberechi Eze after he was watched by nine Premier League scouts recently.

Palace appear to be in pole position to sign the talented 20-year-old although other clubs are certainly taking note of his performances for Steve McClaren’s unlikely play-off contenders.

Scouts from nine Premier League clubs saw Eze score his fourth Championship goal of the season in the 2-2 away draw at Aston Villa just after Christmas.

QPR’s transfer embargo restricts the signing of first-team players although it won’t stop clubs with money to spend from trying to prise away Rangers’ top talent.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson doesn’t have huge funds to splash on a proven striker, but the rumoured £5million asking price of Eze wouldn’t be a problem and they may even consider loaning him back for the rest of the season.

That prospect would be very attractive to QPR, who currently sit just four points off the play-off positions in ninth spot in the Championship.
