Pulis reveals clauses in Ripley move
Middlesbrough have included a ‘massive sell-on’ clause and have ‘first option’ to re-sign Connor Ripley from Preston, Tony Pulis says.
The goalkeeper spent the first half of the season loan at League One side Accrington Stanley and impressed sufficiently to suggest he has a bright future in the game at Championship level or above.
It was thought Boro were continue to develop Ripley in the hope he would be first-choice eventually before they surprisingly allowed him to join PNE on a permanent deal earlier this week.
Pulis has explained the club have attempted to cover themselves as they can make money on him should he go on to be sold for a big fee, while the Teessiders have first option to buy him back.
‘We’re well covered,’ he said. ‘We’ve got a massive sell-on and first option to buy him back. It’s a great deal for the kid, not just the football club.’
