Cork snap up Preston defender
Preston defender Kevin O’Connor has finalised a deal to reunite with Cork City on-loan for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old spent two years with the League of Ireland outfit before joining Preston in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee. O’Connor struggled to tie down a spot at Deepdale and made just eight appearances in the first half of 2017-18. He was loaned out to League One with Fleetwood for the rest of the term before heading on-loan to Crewe earlier this season. With opportunities likely to be limited in Lancashire the Championship club have sanctioned a move back to Cork. O’Connor told Cork’s official website: ‘I’m happy; everybody knows how I feel about this club, so it is great to be back. I’ve been in training with the lads, so I am looking forward to getting my head down, working hard and going again. ‘There are still a good few of the lads here from when I was here before, and the new lads seems bang on. It seems like a really good bunch and hopefully things will go well on the pitch. I want to get games, that is my main target, but we want to be challenging up around the top of the table as well. I am just hoping to come back, work hard and play as many games as possible.’
