Mannone departs Reading on loan
Reading goalkeeper Vito Mannone has left the club and joined MLS outfit Minnesota United on a long-term loan.
The former Arsenal youngster joined the Royals from Sunderland for £2million during the summer of 2017 and was a regular during his first season at the Madejski, featuring in 41 Championship matches.
However, the Italian has been limited to just six league outings this term, the last of which came in September, with Arsenal loanee Emiliano Martinez, Sam Walker and Anssi Jaakkola all moving ahead of him in the pecking order.
That has led to the decision for Mannone to leave the Berkshire outfit on a temporary basis and the 30-year-old will spend the best part of the next two years in America with Minnesota, as the terms of the loan will see him remain there until January 2020.
Minnesota finished 10th in the Western Conference at the end of last year’s MLS season and they are managed by Englishman Adrian Heath, who had spells with Everton, Burnley and Manchester City during his own playing career.
