Palace must match Zaha ambitions
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says the club have to ‘match the ambitions’ of Wilfried Zaha and other top players to keep them.
Zaha has enjoyed another strong campaign for the Eagles, with eight goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, and he has been linked with a big-money summer move.
German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund have been linked with Zaha and former club Manchester United have also been credited with an interest.
Palace could command a fee in excess of £50million for the 26-year-old although Parish says they hope to keep hold of the forward, but he accepts the club have to show ambition if they are to retain their star names.
‘There is so much said around our top players,’ he told the BBC.
‘I could lay out probably a thousand articles from the last seven years about where Wilf is going to go and when he is going to go.
‘Wilf is focused on between now and the end of the season.
Clubs have to match the ambitions of the players.
We have to move this club forward.
‘It isn’t just supporters that get excited by things improving, it is the people within the club, the staff, the players obviously included.’
