Talks over turning Tryone Mings’ loan spell from Bournemouth into a permanent stay at Aston Villa have reportedly taken place.

The Express and Star claim Villa, who were unable to secure an option to buy in Mings’ loan deal, have got a clause which allows them to match any bids from other clubs for the Cherries’ centre-back.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe plans to sit down with the former Ipswich Town star at the end of the season to discuss his future.

But he appears very happy at Villa after helping plug a leaky backline and propelling Dean Smith’s side to the Championship play-off final – where they will face Derby County at the end of the month.

Villa’s hopes of competing for the 26-year-old’s permanent signature almost certainly rest on victory at Wembley and promotion back to the Premier League.

But Mings’ current Villa teammate John McGinn is in no doubt where he wants the centre-back to end up.

He said: ‘Tyrone has been different class since he joined in January.

It took us ages to get him! ‘He is a colossus at the back.

I just don’t know how he does not get a game for Bournemouth.

‘If we can keep hold of Ty in the Premier League, if we get there, it would be brilliant for the club.’
