Spurs striker linked with shock Barcelona move
Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Barcelona, who could snap him up on a free transfer.
Llorente has chipped in with some crucial goals when Harry Kane has been forced to sit out through injury this season, but he is out of contract at the end of June and looks set to move on.
Barca have now emerged as shock contenders to sign the 34-year-old, who has a wealth of La Liga experience, having fired home 88 goals in 285 appearances.
Llorente would no doubt be tempted to sign for a huge club like Barca, but he would have to settle for a bit-part role once again, and that may not appeal.
There will be no shortage of interest in the former Athletic Bilbao and Seville star, and he may prefer to join a club where he will be able to see out his days playing regular first-team football.
Barca are said to be closing in on a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, but want a back-up striker, hence their interest in Llorente.
