City target open to English switch
Manchester City target Bruno Fernandes says he is in no rush to leave Sporting Lisbon although he does ‘dream’ of playing in England.
Portugal international Fernandes is being coveted by a whole host of clubs this summer after scoring 32 goals and providing 17 assists across all competitions for Sporting this season.
City and rivals Manchester United have been the two teams credited with the most interest in Fernandes, who has confirmed he is in no rush to leave Sporting, although it would be a dream of his to play in England.
‘For now I have a contract and everything that might happen, will have to come in time,’ Fernandes told Diario de Noticias.
‘Right now I’m focused on the ambitions of Sporting, which are mine.
I honestly don’t know anything else.
‘Obviously if an irrefutable proposal for me arrives, and it’s good for the club, let’s get together and decide together.
‘I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a very early age I have a dream of playing in England, where you can live pure football without big controversy, without big cases.
‘ Fernandes won’t come cheap if City do want to sign him, as the 24-year-old is under contract with Sporting until the summer of 2023 and has a reported buyout clause of £85million.
