Reds may renew Fekir interest
Liverpool may look to renew their interest in Nabil Fekir this summer after it was confirmed the France international will leave Lyon.
Fekir had looked set to complete a high-profile £53million move to Anfield last summer and it was thought he underwent a medical at the club and agreed personal terms before the transfer ultimately fell through.
The 25-year-old instead remained at Lyon for the 2018-19 campaign, but the French club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has now confirmed they will look to sell him this summer, as he is entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Groupama Stadium.
‘Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures expected], because we have an understanding that he can go,’ Aulas said after Friday’s 3-2 victory over Nimes in Ligue 1.
‘Thanks Nabil for bringing what he brought, we have an understanding to let him go.
‘ Fekir enjoyed a sensational 2017-18 campaign, scoring 23 goals in 39 matches, but he has not quite been able to recapture that form this term, although he has still found the back of the net 12 times.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will renew their interest in Fekir, who could now be available for a smaller fee as he is into the final year of his contract.
