Chelsea defender heading to Serie A
Chelsea defender Ola Aina is heading to Torino on a permanent basis, the Serie A club have revealed.
The 22-year-old was one of a plethora of Chelsea players to be loaned out last season to play first-team football, and the defender is said to have gone down a storm in Turin, playing 30 Serie A matches.
Torino president Urbano Cairo has confirmed that the club have exercised their option to buy Aina, and the full back will make the permanent switch to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
‘We exercised our option to buy Ola Aina, as well as [Christian] Ansaldi and [Koffi] Djidji,’ he said.
‘Now Torino own all their players.
‘ The Nigerian International made just six appearances for the Chelsea first-team and will now be looking forward to continuing his career with l Granata.
Chelsea currently only have Cesar Azpilicueta and David Zappacosta as the club’s recognised right-backs, while Reece James, who was on loan at Wigan last season, is facing a spell on the sidelines through injury.
