Barca fail to land top target as PSG close on deal
Barcelona are reported to have failed with a bid to sign Matthijs de Ligt, with the Ajax defender now on course to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old is in hot demand this summer, with Europe’s top clubs scrapping it out for his signature but it was thought that Barca were in the box seat to do a deal.
However, reports are now suggesting that PSG have made the more lucrative offer and, with Barcelona unwilling to match it, the central defender will instead head to Paris.
It has also been claimed that De Ligt is taking the advice of his agent, Mino Raiola, who is pushing for him to head to the French capital over a switch to Barca.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartoneu has been informed and the Catalan giants will now have to look elsewhere to bolster the heart of their defence.
