Clarets knock back Gibson bid
Burnley have turned down a loan offer for defender Ben Gibson from Turkish club Besiktas.
Gibson only moved to the Clarets last summer for a joint club-record fee of £15 million from Championship outfit Middlesbrough but he struggled for game time last season.
The 26-year-old managed just five appearances in all competitions, with just one outing in the Premier League, and is believed to be open to a move away from Turf Moor before the start of the new campaign due to his lack of opportunities.
Reports claim Besiktas have come forward with a loan offer with a view to a permanent deal but Burnley have rejected their advances.
It remains to be seen if Gibson would be open to a move to Turkey, or if Besiktas will return with an improved bid after seeing their initial offer knocked back.
