Zouma must wait for Everton decision
Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma must wait until a new manager is in place before he learns if he can join Everton permanently.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign on loan at Goodison Park in 2018-19, making 32 appearances for the Toffees, while he also chipped in with two goals and two assists for Marco Silva’s side.
Everton have made bringing in the Frenchman full-time this summer one of their transfer priorities before the August deadline, but they are being made to wait until Chelsea appoint a new boss.
The west Londoners are widely expected to name former midfielder Frank Lampard as their new manager in the next week and Zouma will then have to wait to see if the current Derby chief wants him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Zouma’s position is complicated by the fact Chelsea are under a transfer ban – although they are appealing – and therefore, as it stands, they would be unable to sign any replacement if he was to make the permanent switch to Merseyside.
Zouma, for his part, is believed to be keen on completing a move to Everton.
