United defender target puts future on hold
Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly says his future is on hold until after the Africa Cup of Nations as he remains focused on Senegal.
The Napoli defender is known to be a top target for United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bring in a new centre-half, but they may have to wait until after the tournament is over.
Speaking after the 2-0 win over Tanzania, the 26-year-old was not in the mood to discuss links of a move away from Naples, and wanted to focus on Senegal’s efforts.
‘I don’t know [if I’ll still be at Napoli next year], I think so, but I have to play the Afcon and then after that I’ll go back to Napoli,’ he told Goal.
‘Everyone’s speaking about me, but I’m only speaking about Senegal, because that’s my objective today and I want to achieve something big with Senegal.
‘ United could be running out of options to strengthen at the back as Matthijs de Ligt is said to be closing in on a move to Juventus, while Manchester City appear to be winning the race for Leicester’s Harry Maguire.
