City complete deal and send player straight to Germany
Manchester City-owned USA international goalkeeper Zack Steffen has signed on a season-long loan deal with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Steffen will join the Bundesliga team for their pre-season training camp in Austria on July 17.
Last December, Colombus Crew announced they had finalised a deal with City for the transfer of the 24-year-old to the Premier League club at the beginning of Major League Soccer’s 2019 Secondary Transfer Window, which opened today.
City have subsequently done a deal with Fortuna to loan him out for a season of top-flight experience in Europe.
It has been reported that Fortuna will pay him a salary that translates to roughly £17,000 per week – depending on if he is their first-choice keeper.
