Verona sign former Portugal star
Verona have completed the signing of former Portugal international Miguel Veloso as they prepare for life back in Serie A.
The Yellow and Blues secured an immediate return to the Italian top-flight after winning last season’s Serie B playoffs and they have been quick to add some experience to their squad with the arrival of Veloso.
The 33-year-old was available on a free transfer after leaving Genoa at the end of last season and the move to Verona will see him reunite with his former manager at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Ivan Juric.
Veloso, who won 56 caps for Portugal during an eight-year international career, has made over 100 appearances in Serie A across two different spells with Genoa, while he also counts Sporting Lisbon and Dynamo Kyiv among his list of former clubs.
The midfielder has signed a one-year contract at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi and he joins the likes of Pawel Dawidowicz and Antonio Di Gaudio in arriving at the club during the off-season.
