Villa edge closer to Nakamba deal
Aston Villa are set to step up their interest in signing Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba.
Villa have been linked with making a move for the Zimbabwe international for a number of weeks, but reports in Belgium now claim the two clubs are close to agreeing on a £10.
Boss Dean Smith has already been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in eight new recruits including Nakamba’s former Club Brugge team-mate Wesley, but he is now prioritising signing a new central midfielder after allowing Mile Jedinak and Glenn Whelan to leave at the end of last season.
Nakamba appears to be the man at the top of Smith’s wish-list, with the 25-year-old having impressed during his two seasons in Brugge, featuring 67 times across all competitions.
The former Vitesse star was part of the Brugge side that beat Monaco 4-0 during last season’s Champions League and he may prove a risk worth taking given the relatively small nature of his transfer fee.
