Trezeguet becomes Villa’s ninth summer addition
Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Mahmoud Hassan from Kasimpasa for a reported fee of £8.75m as their spending spree continues.
The Villans have not held back in trying to strengthen their squad following their promotion back to the Premier League and the Egypt international known as Trezeguet is the ninth addition the Midlanders have made this summer, subject to international clearance.
The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons in Turkey with Kasimpasa, scoring 25 goals and providing 18 assists in his 71 appearances for the Super Lig team before catching the eye with Egypt at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
Villa boss Dean Smith has been eager to improve his options out wide ahead of the new season and feels Trezeguet is a player capable of terrorising opposition defences after scouting him extensively.
Smith told the Villa website: ‘We’re really excited to work with ‘Trez’.
I’ve watched him a number of times.
‘He’s the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals.
‘ Villa’s summer spending is now close to passing the £100million mark and they don’t look to be finished in adding to their squad as a £14million deal for Brentford’s Said Benrahma is strongly mooted.
