Roma target Chelsea outcast Batshuayi
Roma have set their sights on Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi according to reports in Italy.
Current Roma striker Edin Dzeko continues to be linked with an exit, with Inter Milan thought to be keen, and if the Bosnian does depart the Giallorossi will need to bring in a replacement before the Serie A transfer window closes on August 23.
Batshuayi has struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge since his €40million arrival from Marseille in the summer of 2016 and has since spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace.
The Belgium international managed five goals in 11 Premier League games for Palace in the latter half of last season and it had been thought he may finally be able to break into the Chelsea side this season after a change in circumstances.
The Blues were unable to sign players during the summer due to a transfer ban, while Frank Lampard arrived as boss, but Batshuayi was omitted from the squad for their Premier League opener at Manchester United regardless.
As such, it is thought Chelsea remain open to offers for the 25-year-old and Roma have registered an interest in taking the forward on loan for the season, potentially with a view to an outright transfer next summer.
