Mazzarri backs Watford youngsters

Boss Walter Mazzarri feels it is vital for a club like Watford to bring through home-grown talent to avoid huge fees for foreign stars.
The Hornets have had one of the highest net spends over the last few years in relation to clubs in the Championship and now find themselves having to compete with Premier League teams.
The Vicarage Road outfit have brought in players from overseas but have also used youngsters such as Brandon Mason, Michael Folivi and Carl Stewart in recent times.
With injuries mounting up for the Hertfordshire club, it may well be that the Italian tactician has to dip into Watford's youth teams and reserves even more in the coming weeks but he does not feel it is necessarily a bad thing to do.
"We had Mason with us when we went on pre-season and for young players it’s very important for them to be with the first team and make their debuts. This will help them grow as football players," he told the Watford Observer.
"Like you say sometimes it’s fundamental to see what we have at home in our house so that we can make these players grow and don’t always go abroad to sign players for a crazy amount of money."
